The solution is to press upwards on the lid slightly and gently while moving the pin forward with something like a thin screw driver. That dislodges the pin from the shallow groove and allows the drawer to open.

Then I put the baffle back on and put a couple of pieces around the edges of the baffle to make sure it didnt fall out. I put the plastic back in place like it was.
